Corporate Responsibility

ING investment has become a signatory to the United Nation Principles for Responsible Investment(PRI). These are made up of six principles designed by the United Nations to encourage global best practise for responsible investment. At the core of these principles are the three issues of ESG-Environment,Social and Corporate Governance.

At ING investment Management we believe that for a company to have a business model that is sustainable, it must demonstrate ethical and environmentally responsible behaviour, have business relationship that are mutually beneficial, able to attract and retain quality staff and make a positive contribution to the wider community.

As a signatory, ING IM will take into consideration ESG when making investment and talking to its investee companies. It is important to note that these principles are not proscriptive in any way; they simply add an element to the investment process, much as profit margin or management is.

At a broader level, ING Group is considered one of Europe’s leading financial institutions in regards to Corporate Responsibility. In fact, ING was one of the first signatories to the Equator Principle in 2003 and in 2006 ING formally adopted the UN Declaration of Human Rights into their business principles.

Each year ING publishes a corporate responsibility report to inform our stakeholders on ING’s activities in the field of corporate responsibility. As you can see from the latest report, there is significant depth and breadth to ING's commitment to this program.
